Kids need diversity. Kids need selection. Kids need a reason to get excited to try new foods!
If they are old enough, allow them to join you in the kitchen and help you cook some of their meals! It is important to get your kids involved in the "food process" at an early age. I believe that if you can get your kids excited and engaged, they will be more willing to try new and healthy foods. Get them involved in the grocery store. Give them two or three options and let them pick a new, healthy food item during each grocery store visit.
If kids are involved in the food selection, preparation and handling, they will be more involved and excited to partake in eating during mealtime!
